Trend Alert: Rope Baskets

***Post contains affiliate links. This means I earn a small commission off of purchases made through the links***I've been using smaller rope baskets for the kids' toys for years but never thought much of it. Recently, I posted an XL rope basket I bought in the Take It From Nicole Facebook Group and people went BANANAS over it. I had no idea people would love it so much.

Sometimes I stumble onto something without realizing it. I've been using smaller rope baskets for the kids' toys for years but never thought much of it. Recently, I posted an XL rope basket I bought in the Take It From Nicole Facebook Group and people went BANANAS over it. I had no idea people would love it so much.

Currently, ours is being used to old all the toys that get brought into our living room. I toss them in there until I have a chance to actually put them away where they belong. It's helping to cut down on the clutter. I've also seen them used frequently for pillows and blankets. And also the obvious laundry basket.

Spinach Artichoke Dip is quite possibly my all time favorite appetizer. For years it was all I ordered as an app! I wish I had known how easy it is to make.

Spinach Artichoke Dip is quite possibly my all time favorite appetizer. For years it was all I ordered as an app! I wish I had known how easy it is to make. I made it most recently for the Super Bowl and it was a hit.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese block
  • 16 oz sour cream
  • 1 stick (8 tbsp) unsalted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Parmesan cheese (fresh or from a bag- NOT a can)
  • 14 oz can quartered artichoke hearts (I pull them apart before adding)
  • 10 oz box of frozen spinach thawed and drained (squeeze out liquid over sink)
  • 2 cloves of pressed garlic (or 2 tsp from a jar)

Method

  • Add cream cheese, sour cream, butter and parmesan cheese to a medium sized sauce pan and melt together while stirring over medium heat.
  • Once well mixed add artichoke hearts, and drained spinach and stir.
  • Add garlic. Stir until well blended and slightly bubbly.
  • Serve with tortilla chips or French bread for dipping.

100 Dino-mite Days of School!

***Post contains affiliate links. This means I earn a small commission off of purchases made through the links***

Gender neutral 100th Day of school shirt with dinosaurs - good for both boys and girls.

Tis the season for 100th Day of School festivities! I've seen some really cute ideas floating around on social media the past 2 weeks or so. I'm not sure when this became a thing but it is definitely a big deal now. Different schools do different things- dress like you are 100 years old, put 100 things on a poster, wear a t-shirt with 100 things etc. Thing 1 had to decorate a t-shirt with 100 things for his kindergarten class. Since he was having a celebration in class that parents were invited to with little stations we also were asked to donate some snacks etc.

For his shirt we went through quite a few different ideas. One of them involved 100 transformers but I have no idea how he planned to pull that one off. In the end, we went with dinosaurs. I ordered these dinosaur foam stickers and used fabric paint to write out "100 Dino-Mite Days." I liked that he was able to help put the stickers on his shirt and that it wasn't just homework for me.

I honestly didn't expect the dinosaurs to stay on but I was pleasantly surprised. He only lost one that he zipped up in his jacket. The rest stayed on really well. There were some really cute shirts on the other kids in his class, too. We saw a rainbow made out of 100 pom-poms, a gum ball machine, Baby Yoda, stars, hearts, and lots of other clever ideas.

For more ideas you can check out this post in my private Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/dailydealdetectives/permalink/1050147055350364/

Overcoming the Prison of Perfectionism and Walking My Way To A Healthier Me

***Post contains affiliate links. This means I earn a small commission off of purchases made through the links***

Thanks to my friends at Tioseban for sponsoring this post.

Perfectionism can be a prison. What I realized is that SOMETHING is more often than not better than nothing. Walking is better than sitting, getting a few posts done is better than none, and grading one paper is better than grading zero papers. I've been working very hard to allow myself the grace to do some things just so-so.

I've been so busy between mom life, blogging, and teaching that I let my health get put on the back burner. When you have multiple autoimmune diseases like I do this is NOT a good thing. I've been struggling to find time for exercise and after listening to some podcasts I realized something about myself. I live in a prison of perfectionism of my own creation. If I can't do something *perfect* I freeze up and can't do it at all.

This is no way to live. Let me tell you friends, this revelation has been life changing. Before if I couldn't run 3-4 miles I just wouldn't run. My body doesn't always cooperate and sometimes my joints hurt entirely too much for running to even be possible. So I stayed sedentary and it became a vicious cycle.

What I realized is that SOMETHING is more often than not better than nothing. Walking is better than sitting, getting a few posts done is better than none, and grading one paper is better than grading zero papers. I've been working very hard to allow myself the grace to do some things just so-so.
