Hot Toys 2019

Predictions for the hot toys of 2019. Knowing what’s predicted to be popular is, in my opinion, incredibly valuable information if you want to avoid the craziness that often hits in November. I don’t recommend anyone rush out and buy everything on the list but if there’s something you KNOW your kid can’t live without it would behoove you to grab it early before the insanity ensues.

It feels completely unreal that I’m writing this post already! Does anyone else feel like this year is flying by? But here we are; it’s almost the end of August which means all the new toys for the holiday season will start being released. Predicting what toys will be hot for the holidays is far from an exact science and often I feel a lot like professor Trelawny in Harry Potter with my guesses. But, last year’s post WAS pretty spot on.

Normally I’m further ahead on my Christmas shopping than I am now. We just had a round of birthdays and we feel overrun with toys right now so it’s hard to justify grabbing things when I don’t feel like they NEED anything. They also are at ages where interests are fleeting so I’m not sure what will be THE toy this year where as last year at this time my oldest had already settled on Nerf Laser Shooters. If I’m completely honest it’s driving me a little batty because I like to be prepared. So… do as I say and not as I do and be prepared early.

Baby Shark x Fingerlings

If you were in my Daily Deal Detectives group 2 years ago you will remember the craziness of Fingerling stockings. I feel like I spent endless hours randomly checking product pages hoping to catch them for my readers and the endless refreshing of pages still haunts me. All of the other Baby Shark crossover toys have been pretty popular and I suspect this one will follow suit.

Avoid Morning Meltdowns how we organize school clothes for the week

I'm almost hesitant to write this post because I'm afraid of jinxing myself lol. BUT I think we have a system that is going to work for D and for me and I'm excited. Elementary school starts ridiculously early here so having as many systems in place to save time and tantrums are a MUST! This is by far the most elaborate of those systems but I feel the investment on Sunday night is well worth the payoff.

Easy Instant Pot Barbecue Shredded Chicken

***Post contains affiliate links. This means I earn a small commission off of purchases made through the links***
This BBQ Shredded Chicken was so easy to make and packed a very flavorful punch. It’s also super easy to customize to your taste by switching up the brand of BBQ sauce. I love that I can throw frozen chicken into the pot and dinner is ready in 30 minutes.

This recipe was developed out of necessity. It was yet another night when our chicken had not thawed all the way and it’s just too darn hot for soup. My Instant Pot has seriously saved my butt so many times when food hasn’t thawed (or I just forgot to take it out of the freezer at all). I’ve posted other Instant Pot recipes that don’t require chicken to thaw and I think they may be my favorite kind. This  BBQ Shredded Chicken was so easy to make and packed a very flavorful punch. It’s also super easy to customize to your taste by switching up the brand of BBQ sauce. This serves 3-4 people but could easily be doubled for larger families.

Ingredients

  • 2 large chicken breasts (1.5-2lbs of chicken)
  • ½ cup finely chopped onion
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp paprika
  • 1.5 tbs of brown sugar (you can add more if you want it sweeter)
  • ½ cup chicken broth (you can use water in a pinch)
  • 1 ¼ cup BBQ Sauce- we like to use Stubbs Original b/c it’s Gluten Free)
