Overcoming the Prison of Perfectionism and Walking My Way To A Healthier Me

Thanks to my friends at Tioseban for sponsoring this post.

Perfectionism can be a prison. What I realized is that SOMETHING is more often than not better than nothing. Walking is better than sitting, getting a few posts done is better than none, and grading one paper is better than grading zero papers. I've been working very hard to allow myself the grace to do some things just so-so.

I've been so busy between mom life, blogging, and teaching that I let my health get put on the back burner. When you have multiple autoimmune diseases like I do this is NOT a good thing. I've been struggling to find time for exercise and after listening to some podcasts I realized something about myself. I live in a prison of perfectionism of my own creation. If I can't do something *perfect* I freeze up and can't do it at all.

This is no way to live. Let me tell you friends, this revelation has been life changing. Before if I couldn't run 3-4 miles I just wouldn't run. My body doesn't always cooperate and sometimes my joints hurt entirely too much for running to even be possible. So I stayed sedentary and it became a vicious cycle.

What I realized is that SOMETHING is more often than not better than nothing. Walking is better than sitting, getting a few posts done is better than none, and grading one paper is better than grading zero papers. I've been working very hard to allow myself the grace to do some things just so-so.

Toys r Us is BACK!

Tru Kids Brands™ (which are the new owners of the Toys R Us Brand) partnered with Target to provide their new online service.

Last year when Toys R Us closed it broke my heart. It felt like a piece of my childhood was lost forever. So I would be a big fat liar if I said I wasn't excited that they are officially back online! AND it's just in time for the holidays.

Tru Kids Brands™ (which are the new owners of the Toys R Us Brand) partnered with Target to provide their new online service. Per a press release, "ToysRUs.com relaunched today with videos and articles on the latest toy trends and brands. It has in-depth product reviews, hot toy lists to help shoppers pick out the perfect toys and gifts for kids of all ages. Ready to buy something? The site will automatically link you to the same product page on Target.com to make the purchase."

I did some poking around on the new site and basically it funnels to Target with a "buy now at Target" button. You then complete your purchase at Target.com like you normally would. There are also toy trend lists, printables, and DIY activity ideas.

"This fall, Toys“R”Us will open experiential retail stores in Houston, Texas, and Paramus, New Jersey—specially designed to help families make memories as they discover the hottest new toys in person." If the item you want isn't in stock associates will help your order it online from Target.

I have to be honest, I was hoping for a bit more on the online side but perhaps this will pave the way for more services and experiences in the future. I'm very interested in seeing what the response is to the new brick and mortar stores. What are your thoughts? Are you excited about the new TRU?
